Unspeakable horror from multiple disasters suffered in Japan have dominated our thoughts and lives for the past six days. Today marks the first-week anniversary of a tragedy inexpressible by either words or images, and we feel powerless, frustrated and fearful. Thus I have chosen Morten Lauridsen'stranscendentLuxAeterna, sung by the Los Angeles Master Chorale under the direction of Paul Salamunovich, to bring some comfort to those whose hearts are aching now. May light perpetual, luxaeterna, illumine our world in the days to come.
